Local Labour MSP Neil Findlay visited Livingston United Parish Church this week to celebrate winning their first Bronze eco – congregation award.
An eco-congregation is an ecumenical programme helping churches make the link between environmental issues and Christian faith, and respond in practical action in the church.
Neil Findlay said:
“It’s great to see local churches getting directly involved in big political issues like the environmental threat to our communities
I had some enlightening discussions with the congregation and was really impressed with the schedule of events and community work the church has going forward.
I am glad to see so many people getting together to discuss and organise around these issues in a non-political setting, there’s a lot of great ideas flying around and it opened my eyes to a number of concerns in the area too. I’ll definitely be back”
Lothian Labour MSP Findlay has submitted a motion to the Scottish Parliament celebrating the church’s award this week.
