Local Labour MSP Neil Findlay has thanked ‘heroic’ nurses on International Nurses Day on 12th May 2020 to mark the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.
2020 marks the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale and has also been named International Year of the Nurse and Midwife by the World Health Organisation.
Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, nurses, and all healthcare workers, have put their lives on the line to care for others. Their remarkable work throughout the most difficult of times deserves recognition.
Neil Findlay MSP said:
“I want to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to our heroic nurses on International Nurses Day.
“Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, and before the crisis, nurses across the country have worked incredibly hard to care for us and our loved ones.
“The COVID-19 crisis is a lesson that nurses and healthcare workers should never again be undervalued. They should be rewarded with a pay rise when this crisis is over.
