Local MSP Neil Findlay has voiced his support for World No Tobacco Day, which will take place this Sunday the 31st May 2020.
Set up by the World Health Organisation (WHO), this year’s theme has been centred on protecting youth from manipulation from the tobacco companies and preventing them from engaging in tobacco and nicotine use, which we know has negative health consequences.
The global campaign aims to provide younger people with the tools to detect the manipulative tactics deployed by the tobacco companies to lure them in to using nicotine and tobaccos, therefore empowering younger people to stand up to them.
Labour MSP, Neil Findlay MSP said:
“I am fully behind World No Tobacco Day and the WHO’s theme which is centred on raising awareness of the tactics deployed by tobacco companies that can lure young people into tobacco and nicotine use.
“We all know the horrific impact that tobacco and nicotine has on our health. It is imperative that young people are aware of these consequences, as well as the tactics deployed by big tobacco companies, in order to prevent them from engaging in it.
