Local councils across Scotland will face crippling cuts to vital services following last week’s budget debate in the Scottish Parliament.
Edinburgh City Council is projected to make £33.1 million cuts to essential services such as leisure facilities, children and adult health services and health projects, whilst putting jobs at risk in the process.
The SNP’s cuts budget, which was timidly negotiated, and subsequently supported by Scottish Green Party MSPs, will detrimentally affect the services that support the neediest in society.
Neil Findlay MSP said:
“Council services have been persistently decimated under the SNP in Holyrood.
“This unholy alliance between the SNP and the Scottish Green Party will damage, and in some cases remove, the essential services that civilise us as a society.”
“Scottish Labour will invest in our people, our communities and our public services.”
