Local MSP Neil Findlay this week attended a public meeting in Seafield concerning a planning application to build around 60 houses at Almond View.
Mr Findlay recently conducted a community wide survey to gather views of local residents on this matter. Soon after, he discovered that there was overwhelming opposition from the majority of respondents to this particular plan.
The main issues are in question is that the area is not zoned for housing in the West Lothian development plan and is not an ‘infill’ site, it is also being proposed in an area of Special Landscape control. Local residents point to pressures on services, including the local GP Practice and local primary school.
Neil Findlay MSP said:
“I thank Seafield Community Group for their invitation along to last night’s meeting.
“There has been an overwhelming opposition to the proposals to build more houses at Almond View for very legitimate reasons.
“I of course back the need for more rented housing development in West Lothian and beyond to address the housing crisis, but they must be built in the right place, under the right conditions. This proposal doesn’t meet these conditions.
“The Seafield community have my support on this and I hope that West Lothian Council reject this application.”
