Local MSP Neil Findlay visited Livingston North Train Station this morning where he talked to commuters about the shambolic Scotrail service.
He was joined by Labour’s selected candidate for Livingston, Rhea Wolfson, and other Labour activists to campaign for public ownership of rail services and an end of the Abellio-Scotrail franchise – a proposition that the Scottish Tories and the SNP recently joined forces to thwart in the Scottish Parliament.
Rail passengers have consistently faced delays and cancellations, whilst fares remain exorbitant. In January this year, Scotrail announced that fares were to rise on average by 2.8%.
Neil Findlay MSP said:
“Rail Passengers in Lothian, and across the country, are fed up with Scotrail’s rip-off service.
“With consistent delays, cancellations and overcrowding, Scotrail does not offer a reliable train service. All the while, passengers are paying exorbitant amounts of their hard-earned cash on fares.
“Scottish Labour would bring our rail services back into public hands, creating a service that is run in the interests of passengers, not profit.
