This week local MSP Neil Findlay met with the Livingston based charity Food Train to discuss how they support the local community.
Food Train is a Scottish charity that provides vital services in West Lothian to anyone 65 years or over who are no longer able to manage independently.
Food Train are now supporting older people in 7 local authority areas in Scotland, with a view to developing further and wider across Scotland to bring food access to all of Scotland’s older folk.
Their services include:
– Grocery shopping and delivery service
– Outreach library services
– Odd jobs around the house
Neil Findlay said:
“Food Train provide a vital service to older residents across West Lothian. The interaction and attention they receive gives them a much needed confidence boost and reminds them that they are part of a busy and vibrant community
“We cannot let charities like this be ignored and it is crucial that people who have the time and inclination get involved so that we can grow Food Train and charities like it across the area
“Thank you to everyone at the office in Livingston who welcomed me”
