Local MSP Neil Findlay has been honoured by Holyrood Magazine as a joint winner of the ‘Political Hero of the Year Award’
Neil shared the award with Jackson Carlaw MSP and Alex Neil MSP for their work on the transvaginal mesh scandal.
Mesh has been used in the treatment of hundreds of women in Scotland and in many cases has led to one or a number of the following symptoms:
– Spasms and painful poking sensations in the pelvic area
– Pain during urination
– Bladder infections / Cystitis
– Vaginal scarring
– Pain during intercourse
Neil Findlay MSP said:
“Usually Jackson, Alex and I are on opposite sides of the fence on many issues – but when it came to this scandal we were all in agreement that something had to be done.
“For far too long women were not listened to when they said this product was causing them discomfort, pain and serious illness.
If our work has gone any way to reducing that toll and bringing the end of mesh products closer, then it is the least we could do.”
