Following last week’s public meeting about Edinburgh Airport Airspace Change Programme Second Consultation Neil Findlay MSP has written to the Civil Aviation Authority. Mr Findlay is asking them to halt the current ‘shambolic’ consultation and start anew with a new consultation document based on up to date and accurate information and with an inclusive process that takes account of all affected residents.
It is crystal clear to me that this process is flawed. At all the packed public meetings I have attended people have repeatedly exposed the flaws in the process. They have used out of date data, misrepresented how many people will be impacted, systematically ignored how current capacity is way below the 2007 figures and ‘lost’ 200 consultation responses. All of these and more expose this as a shambolic and flawed process that is concerned solely with the profitability and value of Edinburgh Airport rather than any concern about the people around the airport who will be affected. I hope the Civil Aviation Authority see sense and halt this current process and start afresh with a consultation that is carried out properly and effectively with all up to date data taken into account. I await the response from the Civil Aviation Authority with a great deal of interest.
