Local Campaigners Assemble to Save St John's Children's Ward

On Friday 19th January Neil Findlay MSP joined local campaigners in Livingstone to protest the continued closure of St John’s children’s ward to out-of-hours inpatients. This has been the case since last July.

Neil Findlay MSP has been campaigning on the issue since the Summer and arranged the protest to highlight the failure of the Scottish Government to give reassurances to worried parents.

Tens of local campaigners, worried parents, and children turned out to highlight the ongoing issue on an icy day in West Lothian. Neil Findlay MSP for the Lothian region, said:

“St John’s children’s ward has been closed to out of hours patients for 30 weeks now. In that time nearly 400 children have had to travel to Edinburgh for admission. The SNP government have allowed this situation to get worse and worse.

With West Lothian’s Labour councillors I am calling on the Shona Robison to put a stop to this and reopen the ward for out of hours patients. Our kids deserve better."
