Local Labour MSP Neil Findlay attended the Dump Trump rally in George Square, Glasgow last week to show his support for the growing global movement against his Presidency.
The United States’ President was met with massive peaceful resistance all across the UK during his first visit to the country since being elected in 2016. Large rallies were held in Glasgow on Friday and Edinburgh on Saturday, with representatives from across the political and civic spectrum in attendance.
Trump has been met with considerable resistance across the globe since his election, but the recent decision to separate children from their parents in immigration detention centres at the Mexican border has encouraged particularly strong responses.
Neil Findlay MSP said:
“Donald Trump represents everything I know most Scots and people across the UK detest.
“This is a man who has gone out of his way to cause division and worsen inequality both in the US and abroad. He promotes racism, misogyny, and hatred. He is everything I stand against.
“Showing the world that we won’t welcome him with open arms is the least we can do, if only the Conservative Government had the backbone to do the same.”
