Parking spaces at Uphall Station have been a consistent bone of contention among locals and commuters for many years.
Good news is on the horizon however as Network Rail have recently confirmed that a reconfiguration of the car parking spaces around the station will lead to an extra 71 spaces this year.
Network Rail have confirmed in correspondence with Neil Findlay MSP that they are aiming to begin work in June, with work taking around 8 weeks to complete.
Neil Findlay welcomed the news by saying:
“Over the past few years many local residents have been in contact with me regarding parking in and around the train station.
“I realise this is a huge problem for local residents and greatly affects local people’s ability to get parked outside their homes. With this in mind over the past year I have met with and written to Network Rail on a number of occasions to highlight the frustrations of local residents and appealed to them to create more parking space at the station.
I am delighted to confirm that Network Rail have taken on-board these concerns and have agreed to re-configure their car park to provide an additional 71 spaces. I am advised that this work is out for tender just now but is scheduled to be completed by mid-September. Over this period I will continue to engage with Network Rail to ensure this work is done on time and with minimum disruption.”
