Becoming a Living Wage Employer

I have written to the major retail and hospitality employers in Livingston Shopping Centre in an effort to persuade them to become Living Wage Accredited Employers. 

The Scottish Living Wage Accreditation Initiative offers formal accreditation to employers who pay their staff at or above the Living Wage of £8.75 per hour. 

I have urged these employers to become accredited so that they, and their employees, can feel the benefits. 

Some of the benefits include: 

  • The prevention of in-work poverty and the use of food banks. 
  • A reduction in absenteeism. 
  • An enhanced quality of their employee's work. 
  • The reputation of a socially responsible employer.
