Local MSP Neil Findlay joined representatives from the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) to celebrate diversity in Scotland’s nursing sector.
The RCN have welcomed increased equality, diversity and inclusion in the workforce, which has seen the LGBT and BAME community better represented.
However, given that less than 10% of nurses are men, the profession remains a female dominated one. The RCN support greater gender diversity within the workforce.
Neil Findlay MSP said:
“I joined the RCN last week to celebrate increased diversity and equality within the profession. We are now seeing nurses from a wider variety of backgrounds. This is to be warmly welcomed. However, we need a big effort to attract more men into the sector.
