West Lothian Labour Party hosted a special screening of ‘Nae Pasaran!’ in Deans High School last Friday.
Nae Pasaran! is a film centred on international socialism and solidarity as it follows the story of factory workers from East Kilbride in protest of the fascist Pinochet dictatorship in Chile.
The film was followed by a Q&A with John Keenan, one of the factory workers involved in this courageous act, who was met with many interesting questions from the audience.
Local party members also enjoyed speeches from Neil Findlay, MSP for the Lothian region, in addition to Labour’s Parliamentary Candidates for Linlithgow and Falkirk East, Wendy Milne, and for Livingston, Rhea Wolfson.
Neil Findlay MSP said:
“The story of Rolls-Royce factory workers who took a stance against Pinochet’s fascist regime is amongst one of the greatest tales of international solidarity that I have heard.
“Nae Pasaran! tells of the power of trade unionism and how borders are irrelevant when it comes to common interest with our fellow man and woman.
“The showing in Deans CHS provoked enthusiasm and emotion from the audience. It is a film that everyone should watch.
