This week, local MSP, Neil Findlay joined the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Scotland in their call for more nurses to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.
RCN Scotland’s Ask for More campaign calls for a greater number nursing staff so that patients receive safe and effective care.
MSPs will debate this in light of the upcoming Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Bill. The RCN has urged that MSPs ensure that the bill meets their six key tests, which includes positive outcomes for people and staff.
604 people in the Lothian Region, and over 3000 across Scotland, support the Ask for More campaign.
Neil Findlay MSP said:
“I fully support the RCN Scotland’s ‘Asks for More’ campaign which calls for more nurses in our hospitals, nursing homes and community teams.
“It is scandalous that in 2018 many of our vital health and care services are under staffed leaving many committed and hardworking nurses feeling like they are unable to provide the best care.
“Both patients and clinicians deserve better than this.
“We have the opportunity to get staffing levels right with the upcoming Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Bill.”
