Scottish Labour selected their candidate to contest the Livingston seat at the next Westminster election this week. Rhea Wolfson, who stood for the party last June, was selected unanimously by local party members.
Wolfson helped reduce the SNP majority by almost 13,000 votes last June, leaving the sitting MP Hannah Bardell close to defeat.
West Lothian Labour have been campaigning hard for the 12 months since and are said to be firmly on an ‘election footing’ since narrowly missing out on defeating the Tories last year, and that is why candidates are being selected to begin the fightback.
Local MSP Neil Findlay said:
“Labour are ready to return to power. We are working across Scotland to get local candidates in place who can carry our anti-austerity message into communities like West Lothian, so that we can create a society for the many, not the few.
“Rhea will be a fantastic candidate. People across this area are fed up of SNP and Tory excuses – when an election is called, we will be ready to offer a real alternative.”
